Meet Bhoomika Ghosh: Bridging AI Innovation with Human Impact
Share
From healthcare tech to global AI innovation, Bhoomika Ghosh’s journey is a blueprint for how to lead with integrity, impact, and imagination. As a Senior Tech Product Manager at Amazon Prime, she’s shaping the future of AI/ML across 24 countries, advocating for ethical development, and creating space for more women to lead in tech.
But her path wasn’t linear and that’s exactly what makes it powerful.
From 2D MRIs to Global AI Strategy
“My journey into AI product management began during undergrad. I worked on a project that transformed 2D MRI scans into 3D models, and I still remember the moment a radiologist used our tool to plan a real procedure. That was it—I saw firsthand how tech could solve real human challenges.”
From there, Bhoomika moved into consulting at Deloitte and Capgemini, leading tech transformation for healthcare and insurance clients. But something was missing.
“I didn’t just want to recommend. I wanted to build.”
That desire led her to product management—where she could work hands-on with AI/ML to craft solutions that balanced technical sophistication with real-world needs. Today at Amazon, she’s doing exactly that.
A Project That Changed the Game
While at Deloitte, Bhoomika led the automation of the entire claim-to-cash journey for a major insurance client—leveraging machine learning to streamline operations and drastically reduce processing time. But the real impact came next.
“We took that backend success and evolved it into a consumer-facing tool—a recommendation engine that simplified complex insurance plans into the top three tailored options per user. It was a pivotal moment. We proved AI could demystify difficult decisions for people—not just make processes faster.”
Leading Through Influence
Bhoomika’s approach to influence is anchored in three principles: deep listening, tailored communication, and consistency.
“Being technically right isn’t enough. You have to understand people’s pain points and what success looks like for them.”
Her product mindset is paired with a systems-level view—communicating differently with engineers, business leaders, and designers while maintaining a common strategic thread. It’s this blend of empathy and clarity that’s earned her trust across Amazon and beyond.
From Internal Talks to Global Stages
It all started with an internal talk at Amazon's ProdCon. Her topic? Transitioning from a non-tech background into product leadership. The impact? Immediate and wide-reaching.
“People began messaging me—saying they finally saw a path into tech that felt possible.”
That talk opened the door to speaking engagements at Harvard Business School’s Tech Conference, Finovate, and industry forums where she now speaks on everything from ethical AI to gender equity in leadership.
When Impact Becomes Personal
“After a local panel, I got a DM: ‘Your talk made me realize I don’t have to fit into the mold to lead in tech.’ That message floored me. It reminded me—our stories matter.”
Bhoomika’s work now includes IEEE publications, book reviews, and contributions that extend far beyond her day job. But it’s those quiet messages—the unseen ripple effects—that fuel her mission.
Building a Mentorship Ecosystem
Bhoomika doesn’t believe in being the only woman at the table. She’s here to build more seats.
“I’m not interested in being the first or only. My focus is on building systems that help others rise too.”
Through her work with Seattle’s Women in Tech and Leadership—a group she helped grow from 20 to over 600 members—she’s mentored professionals across the U.S. and India. Every relationship is two-way. Her mentees keep her grounded in emerging trends. Her experience helps them navigate with confidence.
Leadership as Rhythm, Not Balance
“Some weeks I’m deep in AI problem-solving. Others I’m speaking, mentoring, or recalibrating. It’s not about balance—it’s about rhythm.”
To Bhoomika, leadership isn’t performative. It’s deeply intentional. She’s guided by curiosity, purpose, and a belief that impact is measured not just in outcomes—but in how we bring others along.
What’s Next
Bhoomika is focused on two interconnected goals:
1. Scaling ethical, responsible AI that’s rooted in solving real human problems—not just chasing trends.
2. Formalizing mentorship frameworks to support women transitioning into tech and leadership.
“Seeing non-traditional professionals step confidently into AI product roles—that’s what excites me. We’re not just building products. We’re building bridges.”
Her Advice for Aspiring Builders and Leaders
“Start before you feel ready. You probably never will feel ready—and that’s okay. Just begin.”
Bhoomika urges others to take smart risks, surround themselves with people who believe in their vision, and stay anchored in real customer problems.
“Tech evolves fast. But empathy, clarity, and purpose? Those are timeless.”
